SLSFSC is operated by the Spray Lake Sawmills Recreation Parks Society, a registered non-profit organization, on behalf of the owners; The Town of Cochrane and Rockyview County. First established in 2001, the Facilities have substantially grown over the years.

Two scholarships, each worth $1,250, are available to students graduating from grade 12 from a Cochrane High School.

Birthday Party Host & Child Minding (combined position): several positions to fill.

Name: Robin Mitchell
Position:
GM/Executive Director
Bio: Started in May 2010. He has worked at and managed several recreational facilities in Calgary over the past 25 years. He is committed to ensuring that all members, drop-in users and tenants have an exceptional customer experience when they visit SLSFSC. He has assembled a fantastic team who’s number one priority is to ensure high quality customer service and care. SLSFSC is quickly becoming the “Place to Go” in Cochrane and the surrounding area for all your recreational, sport and physio needs.

Name: Cynthia Prelle
Position:
Bookings Coordinator
Bio:
Cynthia started in December 2011. In her last position, Cynthia was the General Manager for the Players Edge Tennis Academy in Toronto, where she set up and managed the annual bookings cycle, prepared invoices and accounts receivable, streamlined operations and implemented best practices. Prior to this, she was a Project Manager with Scotiabank and a Training Consultant with Ernst and Young. Cynthia enjoys an active, outdoor lifestyle with her family and looks forward to contributing to SLSFSC’s reputation as “The Place to Go” in Cochrane.

Name: Jessica Hann

Guest Services Coordinator
Bio: Jessica came on board in the fall of 2010 to oversee the Guest Services group. A former flight attendant and an experienced wedding planner, Jessica brings enthusiasm, excitement and a passion for customer service to the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre team. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking, traveling and staying active. Jessica is thrilled to be a part of the team and is excited for all that is in store for SLSFSC!

Name: Chris Kay
Position:
Program Coordinator
Bio: Chris started in July of 2010 as a Kinesiology student intern. After completing his degree requirements, he was hired on full time as the Program Coordinator and is responsible for all of the drop in and registered programs as well as the very popular “Fit Kids” day camps and after school programs. Chris brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for sports and recreation to the team and enjoys participating in as many sports and activities as he can at this beautiful facility. As the victim of multiple head injuries, Chris is often forced to wear the “special” helmet…..strictly for injury prevention of course.

Name: Adam Pratt
Position:
Day Camp Coordinator
Bio: Adam, our Day Camp Coordinator, joined the team in May of 2010. He coordinated the first ever summer day camps at SLS, and after a fun-filled summer, is looking forward to another one! He has also been working in the newly formed Child Minding Program as well as with the Cochrane Home Educators. Adam has experience in many sports and is currently in his third year at the University of Calgary, striving to complete a Kinesiology degree next year before moving on to the Faculty of Education. Adam has a great passion for physical activity, teaching, and working with children. A fun fact about Adam is that he has been to 25 countries in less than 25 years of life and is planning a trip to Tanzania, Africa in 2012 and Vancouver Island to take on the West Coast Trail later this year.

Name: Donna Dougan
Position:
Finance Administrator
Bio: Donna has worked for the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre since February 2004. Over the past seven years she has done almost every job in the facility except for driving the Olympia because Brian and Paddy won’t let her. Her present position is Finance Administrator but she has little time for those duties because the General Manager/Executive Director thinks she is his personal assistant! She has lived in Cochrane for 32 years and enjoys relaxing at home after a long days work with her dog and two cats. She has watched the facility grow from a single rink to the multi facility complex it is today and is pleased to be a part of the future growth and development.

Name: Paddy Maclure
Position:
SLSFSC Operations
Bio: Paddy came on board October 13 2009 as supervisor of the Totem Twin arenas. September 2010 he was appointed Operations Supervisor which over sees all maintenance issues to the sports centre.  Prior to coming to the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, Paddy spent 13 years working for the Town of Canmore at the recreation Centre working numerous positions. Paddy brings experience and a light hearted, positive attitude to his staff and the Patrons who participate at the sports centre. He was the Trainer for the Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior hockey League for 14 years. Paddy is looking forward to the growth and opportunities that will be happening in the future at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Name: Brian Boynton
Position:
Totem 1 Supervisor
Bio: Brian arrived from Pickering, Ontario in August 2007. He most recently operated his own painting business for 10 years but has worked in recreation for the City of Scarborough and has a Sports Administration Diploma from Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. He has coached competitive fastball, soccer, and recreation hockey. His passion was Durham West Girl’s Hockey Association in Ajax Pickering where he was on the executive for 5 years. He has coached recreation soccer here in Cochrane and plans to in the future. Brian would like to recognize that he is the only Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan in Cochrane. He enjoys working with the staff and takes great pride in making the building look good.

Name: Neven Wilson
Position:
Cochrane Arena Building Operator
Bio: Neven became a part of the SLSFSC team in 2006. He never thought that this would be his dream job but it turned out it is.
If there is anything you need he will be there to help in any way he can. He is proud to be a part of the Spray Lake Sawmills family Sport Centre community and will continue to be there to ensure all who come into the facilities will enjoy their time. In his free time Neven loves to spend time with his wife Catherine and their 3 daughters (Madisyn, DeeDee, & Nevannah). You can often find him volunteering for his daughters school functions, coaching hockey, refereeing ice hockey and volunteering for various clubs in Cochrane. Next time your in at the Original Cochrane Arena, be sure to stop in and say hi!
