Phase 3 Expansion

Construction of the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre Phase 3 Expansion is currently underway with to provide additional ice surfaces, expanded lobby, meeting & multi-purpose rooms and viewing and public areas.

The multi-sport addition will allow many current programs to expand, and will provide more space for new user groups and new programs throughout all four seasons.

Where We Are Now
The SLS Recreation Park Society Board has made tremendous progress on the Phase 3 expansion. Scott Builders began constructing the new addition in November 2008, and are expected to finish one ice surface by October 2009, and the second by mid-October. Once the expansion is completed, there will be two new ice-surfaces, an expanded lobby, a full second floor mezzanine with additional rooms and viewing areas, and an area designed for squash courts.

Details
The two new ice surfaces will serve to expand current programs and allow new programs to be added in order to provide fitness opportunities for as many members of the community as possible. If you or your company are interested in becoming involved with the Centre, please visit our donations page (embedded link).

The second level is going to contain a new multi-purpose room and other new spaces. It will also provide capacity for expanding our tenants’ facilities or welcoming new ones. Planning and discussion for the upper level is underway.

The space for the squash courts is part of the Centre’s plans to serve more members of the region. The area has the potential to increase the variety of programming available at the facility, and additional planning will take place after the Phase 3 expansion is completed.
