The Spray Lake Sawmills Recreation Park Society
The Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre is governed by a non-profit society called the Spray Lake Sawmills Recreation Park (SLSRP) Society. The society has an appointed board of directors that meet regularly to oversee the short and long term affairs of the society including the future development of the 26 acre park on which the sports centre is situated.
In planning for the on-going development of the park, the SLSRP Society board has developed the following objectives to assist in decision-making:
- Help build a sense of community in the Cochrane district
- Be family oriented with an emphasis on health and wellness
- Have a broad based appeal for all leisure interests
- Be adaptable in response to changing needs
- Be planned with long-term vision
- Be a year-round facility
- Be spectator user friendly to enhance enjoyment for all
- Be aesthetically pleasing
- Build linkages with other organizations
- Meet the goals and objectives of the funding sources
- Depend on volunteer support
- Be governed by its own board as an autonomous entity
- Have clearly defined operating policies and guidelines
- Be financially self sustaining for operating costs
